American Shakespeare Center (14 miles south to Staunton, VA): Home to the world’s only precise historical reconstruction of Shakespeare’s indoor theatre. A town by any other name would smell as sweet!
Hike the Appalachian Trail (24 miles east): Hike the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine, nothing is the same.
Blue Ridge Tunnel (25 miles southeast): A Civil War Era train tunnel, 500 feet below the ridge and a mile in length, was the longest US tunnel of its time.
Shenandoah’s Skyline Drive (26 miles away): New Deal Era Paved Ridgeway, for those less inclined to walk
